Wednesday Afternoon
Wednesday 3 September 2003
Well, another Wednesday. Today’s been kinda interesting… and boring as well. Was originally going to work today, as I didn’t really want to say no to Louise on Friday. Instead, was talking to Katie last night when at work and mentioned that I didn’t really feel like working from eleven to three today. Katie then said, ‘That’s cool, I’ll get rid of it for you’ and she proceeded to call a few people and disposed of my unwanted shift… sure, money’s nice but Wednesdays off is even better ^_^.
And, of course, as a result: Ben loves Katie extra special. ^_^
Anyway, with my day off I’ve been trying to find another mirror for Finding Nemo. I’ve completed 71% (I think) of the movie (I might go watch it tonigh at the cinema, if not then in the next couple of days - but I kinda collect movies on the computer that I like. Eh. Like MP3’s really ^^ ) but have had a few little problems. Here’s a fun list for you ~^ :
a) Server drops offline (yesterday)rnb) Tracker on which server is listed (dynamic IP) isn’t workingrnc) Mirrors for this particular file (an Xvid file) are rare and few between.
The protocol I’m using is KDX, a server/client setup by Haxial which allows for encrypted, resumable downloads. Which can be nice - rather hate to get into a movie such as this and be unable to complete it. Anyway, the server, named ‘4 All’ is listed on the JoshuaMac™ tracker, which resides at joshuamac.homeip.net. Having a dynamic IP, to connect to the server when it drops requires connecting to the tracker and then finding the new address when it comes back online. However, the homeip.net address ain’t working. It doesn’t time out or anything… it just sits there. Which isn’t fun.
I pinged the .homeip.net address, and found the actual IP address… but it doesn’t work either. Yet, the tracker is listed as having over 200 users online. ‘Snot fair. But anyway, I eventually did find another host for the movie, but… it dropped on me. And it’s still offline… which just isn’t fun, you know? I’d hate to have the movie terminate on me right here… sigh.
Ah well. Since I was downloading anime at the same time from a different server, it’s not too bad. I’m currently obtaining the second episode of Haibane Renmei (Charcoal Feather Federation) and based on the one and a half episodes I’ve seen… yep. DVD in October is mine. But, until then, I’ll keep getting episodes. After all, I want to know what happens next. ^_^
Tonight I’ve been told I’m cooking dinner… and for some reason, my mother wants Steak Diane. Fair enough… although I’ve never cooked steak before ~^. I’ve got some seasoned potato wedges, as well as broccoli, carrots and snow peas as sides, so the steak should go down nicely. I’m also taking Fernne to her maths tutorial this evening, so I’ll need to find something to read whilst I’m there. Ah well. I’m sure I can find something. ^^
Thinking of Fernne, yesterday she and I were playing around with the piano, a microphone and a bit of recording software and we ended up mixing a four track version of the song ‘The Only’ which we will be performing at my cousin Rebecca’s wedding next year (I may have told some of you that…) At any rate, I’ve uploaded both versions, so if you want to have a listen, pop by and download them:
And, you never know. Perhaps Nemo will be back on later tonight. Can always dream, can’t I? ^_^
