Well, it's been just a tad longer....

[Note: This entry was composed over several weeks, in odd bits and pieces. Lack of continuity is probable. You’ve been warned ^_^ ]
I think I said a day or two. Back on what, the twelfth of September. Not quite accurate, was I? I remember having the best of intentions to post another entry, but I both forgot to do so, and life got in the way. As it does. Honestly enough, I spend hours on the net almost every day, but I’m lucky if I update this thing weekly. I suppose I just have a thing about wanting to write about more than ‘my day was like’ posts.
So, with that in mind, this post is in fact not ‘my day was like.’ Its a little more.
First off, I am now officially Old™. Yep, that’s right, in the past few weeks (noticeably on the 25th of September) I turned 21. Did it matter that much? Oh, I suppose - birthdays are often fun, not a huge deal for me, but hey, presents is cool. ;). Anyway, being as it was my twenty-first, I ended up having a pair of parties, and a pair of cakes. The first party involved my extended family, on both sides (which is remarkable enough if you know my family) going out for a rather nice lunch in a restaurant called OneThai, situated in Dapto (which is ironic). Food - I had a satay overload. Satay Chicken Sticks for entree, satayed pork with jasmine rice for a main. Needless to say, I didn’t manage to finish my pork - I was all satayed out! Nevertheless, I intended to take it home and devour it - but they got our take-home-bags mixed up, so I didn’t get it.
Ah well. The cake was superb (a ‘truffle cake’ - namely whipped belgian chocolate and cream on a dark base. Delicious!), the presents were nice, the company was fantastic, and the atmosphere was congenial. I highly enjoyed it, and it was wonderful to see the family together.
At night time, now, I was having a group of old friends over for pizza, movies and cake, as well as ‘intelligent’ conversation. So in the afternoon, I went JunkFoodShopping™ for softdrinks, nibbles and cheeses. I did so at work. Where, it was decided, that since it was my birthday (I regret telling Anita anything!) that I deserved to have ‘Happy Birthday’ sung to me over the P.A. system when I was going through the checkouts. Yes, I know, it’s a work custom to do so, I often assist in the singing, but I was purposefully trying to avoid receiving it - I avoided telling Michelle (who does most of them) that it was my birthday until after the fact. Oh well. It was kinda funny. The other customers enjoyed it - “a very special little boy in the store, Ben, has just turned 21 today,” etc.
Embarrassing, wot?
The night festivities included the attendance of a group of my oldest friends, who partook in Pool, Table Tennis, Strassman Live (on DVD), pizza, the movie Head of State (featuring Chris Rock) as well as a lot of nonsensical conversation and caffeine. Oh, and cake. Cake is good - this time a Boston Mud cake. Very tasty. ^_^
Anyway, it wrapped up in the early hours of the morning, and I was able to sleep a lot the next day. Which is understandable, I guess. The following week basically involved staying away from uni due to holidays and doing my homework - on my brand-spanking-new PowerBookG4 named Elinoré. Why Elinoré? Well… why not? :) Anyway, she’s a 1.33ghz/15incher with 768MB RAM and the rest as defaults - the RAM was bought separately, as it’s a fair bit cheaper that way, and Corsair make nice RAM anyway. ^_^
I took her into the uni once that week on a raining, pouring Friday in order to get away from the house, type up as much of my assignment as possible, access the wireless network to download research papers, and amuse myself. Which I did.
Back to uni the week after, into the swing, hand in plasmids, stalk chicks, spend money, you know how it is. That’s more or less the current state of affairs too… although I’ll go into more detail tomorrow, definitely, as I’m currently off to do some stuff. And since Elinoré will be with me at uni, I have the ability to do so easily :)
Alcatar’iel!
