It's fun... to charter an accountant...

It’s tax time again, and, unlike last year, I think I’ll actually get the tax returns done… yes, you read that correctly, I haven’t submitted a tax return for the financial year 2002-2003 yet. Oopsies. Ah well, assuming I don’t get fined, I should be able to make up a rather attractive return cheque for myself, somewhere along the lines of $600 or so. Which would be nice.
Being as I’m planning to buy myself a laptop later this year, yes, $600 would come in very much handy. Cash for me is short at the moment, as I’m also getting new lenses for my glasses, and they’re… rather expensive. Just under, ironically, $600 ($586). Well, they are rather ‘special’ lenses. To be specific, they’re progressive polycarbonate transition antiglare antiscratch lenses for a rimless airlock™ frame. Yes. That’s right. That price is only lenses - no new frames.
Needing new eyes sucks. :(
But anyway, on to happier things and times. In a short while, I shall be getting prepared for work somewhat early, and shall be leaving for Warrawong Primary School - in order to burn Looters of Troy onto DVD! Cheer! I shall be using a G4 800 tower, with a rather nice sum of RAM and am taking a copy of iDVD 4 with me, as this is what we refer to as a machine that didn’t come with iDVD 4. Yes. Anyway, I’ll be at the school for around an hour and a half, first off spending a good 20 minutes copying the actual project off of the PC laptop on which it currently resides, another (hopefully) short period of time putting the actual thing together, and then, if all goes well (and I hope it does) - burning as many copies as is humanly possible within the timeframe. I might even stay until around 3.40 or so, possibly 3.45 in order to get more done. I just hope that iDVD can encode the video quickly for me - it’s not going to be done on absolutely best quality, so hopefully it won’t be too bad.
So yes. I also have a dear friend of mine putting together a dvd-cover. I have dusted off my old cd/dvd labelmaking kit and will be utilising it, and I have a number of clear, empty dvd cases in which to put copies of said film. Why so many? Easy. There are at least 9 people I want to give copies to (counting me) so I need a few things.
Of course, even if I don’t get all of those copies done today, as long as at least two are done today then I can give one to Peter on the weekend at his birthday, and I can get various PC-using friends with DVD burners to duplicate the other one a few times, and hand it out as a ‘thanks for participating, enjoy!’ kind of thing.
In other news, I have been enjoying Uni rather a lot this session. Despite dire warnings from my friends, genetics is proving to be, if not riveting, at least occasionally interesting. Biochemistry is much as I suspected - sleepable. Poetry now… poetry is insane. Insanely fun, but still insane. But ever so cool. So yes, assuming I get through the interview process (which I need to sort out my application form for shortly) I am highly looking forward to creative writing as a degree. Yes. Very much so. :)
andiyar.com is now slowly getting back online again - slowly, for a couple of reasons, namely that I a) am updating it as I go and b) said updates are going slowly. The forums are now back and online, although due to some rather irritating sql issues, the old database isn’t there anymore. Oh, ok, yes it is, I have a manual backup of it. It is… rather large, thousands of entries large. And I don’t really want to manually create and update all those entries myself - added to which, the forum software I used has been upgraded now, so it’s different anyway. If people are desperate, I can extract the old posts (and probably will), just don’t expect them to sit there in the actual board archives anymore. Anyway. Here. Feel free to pop by. :)
That’s about all I feel like saying at the moment. I need to collect all my bits and pieces together for this iDVD project now - sort out music and the like. So, I’ll bid you all adieu, and will try to post again very soon. Well, very soon, at least, for me. ^_^
