Wow. This is still here? Amazing… it’s been a while now, hasn’t it? Sometimes I wonder why I bother, and whenever I find myself wondering, I find myself typing again. Interesting thought, isn’t it; my motivation to post entries in my journal is the act of considering why I have such a journal in the first place.
That, and I am bored tonight.
Oh, it isn’t like I don’t have anything else to do. But I just really can’t be bothered doing most of them. I have, for instance, eleven new (and newish) anime DVDs that I either haven’t finished watching or haven’t even put into the DVD player yet. I also have four complete Seinfeld season boxsets and a complete Stargate SG-1 season boxset to bother playing. Oh, and a few movies I’ve gotten around to buying, such as Pirates of the Carribean and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - yes, unwatched.
Don’t feel like watching a DVD tonight though. Not in the mood.
I’ve got a few new CDs that I haven’t finished listening to, at least not all the way through - probably a couple of hours of new music, which I will at least somewhat enjoy. In that sense, though, I am listening to new music… just not paid for, really! Ah well, I do intend to buy the album that this single is from, but it isn’t out yet…
I could also be playing Myst V: End of Ages, which my dear friends were generous enough to get me for my recent birthday (collectors edition, shiny, with cool book and funky case etc) - but I don’t feel like playing games right now.
I could even be doing some homework, working on Magister Templi for my final folio for 122 (I might detail that a bit, actually!), or researching an essay or two for Writ129 or Phil380.
I just feel very, very apathetic. ^_^
Be that as it may, it seems i can’t be bothered doing much except writing this entry. So, with that, I suppose I may as well play “catch up” for the past few months, see what I can remember doing and what I can… forget… doing. Ahem. And I’ll share some bits and pieces. Because although I am apathetic - hell, I’ve gotten this far. May as well keep going. :)
The most notable thing that I’ve done in the past, what, month, is… hrm. Well, I’ve turned 22 recently (this week), and I’ve gotten back a couple of assignments. That is, realistically, about it. Wow, that was fascinating wasn’t it? ;)
In terms of my last entry, I’ve gotten to spend a bit of time with some old mates again, especially this week, which is great. I’m playing D&D again on a fortnightly basis - I’m DMing, which means I need to think and play at once, but it’s nice to get together with the Old Crowd™ again for a bit of fun and nonsense. Going out for tea this past Tuesday with Ben, Ben, Erin, Miles & Sam was also fantastic - thanks so much for that, guys. It was great fun, and thanks again for End of Ages, which I am really enjoying (despite not right now ;) ).
I’ve also caught up with family this week on Tuesday (Uncle Ken, Aunty Elizabeth, Bec, Sean & Kris) and then on Wednesday (Nan, Grandpa, Sean & Kris again with Elise & Christine), so it’s been a very immersive few days. I’ve tried to catch up with Louise as well (whom probably noone reading this knows ^_^ ) but she’s a bit unwell at the moment - so I’ll have to figure out something else to do tomorrow. Probably go shopping or something.
As for other stuff done, I’ve spent most of my time either at Uni, at work, lying down reading or sitting down at my laptop. I’ve finally got a wireless network going at home, so I’m sitting in my room doing this entry. Also, I’ve ordered a wireless broadband package which will finally (assuming it ever happens, call me you stupid tech!) free me from the hell that is 28.8k dialup. Or so we can hope.
Basically, a bit of music, a bit of reading, a little socialising, a lot of work, and a fair bit of introversion. Yep, that’s been me for a while. But then that’s been me for ages, really. The main regret I have right now is (as I mentioned previously) that I haven’t spent much time this session with my writing class friends - in fact, outside of class, I’ve spent close to zero time with any of them. At first I had a reason, but it seems to have become just habitual. So, when I go back to uni, I might just wander around a bit with them and see how we go. Although I spend a lot of time alone, I don’t necessarily always like it.
Incidentally, it’s also been time for an avatar change - the loverly girl gracing this journal now is, for the uneducated, Aeris Gainsborough, one of the female stars of the Squaresoft RPG Final Fantasy VII, as she appears in the recent CG movie Advent Children. Which is a very fun movie to watch. Although, and I write this seriously - if you’ve never either played nor read/discussed FFVII before, forget about watching it. If you haven’t, the music will be beautiful, the CG will blow you away and the movie will be cool - but you will wake up about ninety minutes later thinking “ok, what the hell just happened?” And that is assuming you make it all the way through on the art, without understanding the plot.
So, with that in mind… Google for “Final Fantasy VII Story,” spend a half hour reading, then watch it. ;)
Other stuff you might want to watch at the moment includes Shuffle! (assuming you don’t hate anime) which is a somewhat fanservicey yet deeper-storyful piece of amusement. I’m enjoying it, at any rate. So is Miles. And the fact that it was based on a H-Game has little to nothing to do with that enjoyment.
^_^
Anyway, I’m just rambling. Ramble ramble. I might stop now, read a bit of BOFH and go to sleep. I am after all home alone, everyone leaving me etc. etc. In the spirit of this, I was bored enough to actually do a quiz that one of my friends (being Teggsie) had linked to on her journal, about my English ability. So, I’ll paste that in, say goodnight, and go count chickens or something.
